Keyblades are the most incredible weapons in any game I have ever played, and Kingdom Hearts 3 Keyblades have taken it to the next level. Now, you can upgrade your weapons so they aren’t weak late game, and they all have form changes to spice up combat. Today, I will rank Kingdom Hearts 3 Keyblades based on my view. It will mostly be how effective I found them to be.
Honorable Mentions – Starlight, Midnight Blue, and Hunny Spout
Starlight and Midnight Blue (I chose Midnight Blue because I played the Playstation version only) are pretty much the exact same as Kingdom Key. There are subtle differences like passive abilities. However, Starlight DOES have a really good finisher. I just like the Kingdom Key more because of the iconic design, so I tossed these two into the honorable mentions. On the other hand, Hunny Spout is honestly just not good at all in terms of combat. The Shooting Star outclasses it in just about everything considering it has the same exact Keyblade Transformation. These 3 Keyblades are just clones of Keyblades I like more.
13. Hero’s Origin
Personally, I really dislike the shield form change Keyblades such as Hero’s Origin. I know how amazing it can be if you play defensively and stack up the counters. Unfortunately, I am not a defensive player. My style is really aggressive and fast. Also, the finisher is nothing amazing to me. Everyone knows how impossible it is to even control the pegasus cart. Bring back the Hero’s Crest Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts 2 then we’ll talk.
12. Grand Chef
The Grand Chef should technically belong on the Honorable Mentions list considering it is really similar to Hero’s Origin. However, Grand Chef is slightly better than Hero’s Origin. It deals more damage, and the finisher is much simpler in handling. Also, the ability, Wizard’s Ruse, allows Sora to regain HP after expending MP, and I think that’s a good advantage to have. Again, I just don’t like these Shield Forms, so Grand Chef comes in at 12.
11. Crystal Snow
Crystal Snow is a Keyblade that I have nothing nice to really say about. It really only ranks above the other two purely because it’s not a Shield Form. First off, the design of this Keyblade is just plain ugly. Way too much blue. On top of that, Blizzard Blades is the second worst form to me. It may be super offensive, but I just don’t like it. Also, Crystal Snow’s Finisher is pretty awful, and I almost never use it.
10. Shooting Star
Shooting Star is a pretty good early-game Keyblade. It’s pretty interesting that they turned Kingdom Hearts into Fortnite Battle Royale. Double Arrows and Magic Launcher are pretty fun to use, and it’s a good mix of offense and defense. Even when you dash, Sora will shoot out projectiles making it a great choice for beginners. As the game progresses, the Shooting Star’s transformation feels lackluster when compared to other Keyblades.
9. Favorite Deputy
Favorite Deputy is the first Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts 3 that actually has a great transformation. The Hyper Hammer and Drill Punch are really fun to use, and they deal a lot of damage. It doesn’t have a great starting ability in Lucky Strike, so upgrading it is a must to keep it going later in the game. I didn’t use it much soon after I got it, so it has to stay at number 9 for me. Also, the Hyper Hammer is just really slow in use.
8. Classic Tone
Classic Tone is a CLASSIC example of a great magic Keyblade, except it falls short on its Keyblade Transformations. It has the same exact forms as Favorite Deputy which doesn’t make sense to me. Those forms are much more physically offensive. When using magic in transformation, the way magic is used can change too. For Classic Tone, Boom Hammer and Clock Drill perform magic only surrounding Sora which isn’t really useful. Also, you get this Keyblade almost right at the end of the game anyway.
7. Happy Gear
I have nothing particularly bad or good to say about Happy Gear. I just know there are stronger Kingdom Hearts 3 Keyblades than it. The transformations, Agile Claws and Twin Yo-Yos, are really good for this type of Keyblade. It’s fast and physically destructive which makes Happy Gear one of the greater offensive Keyblades. Unfortunately, it just gets overshadowed soon after you receive it.
6. Ever After
Ever After is a complete beast. It’s the only Keyblade that utilizes an amazing magic transformation. I used this Keyblade for so long, and it was always equipped as one of my 3 Keyblades during the main story. I find its supportive abilities extremely useful. Also, the shot lock allows Sora to heal himself instead of spending his ENTIRE MP bar. The transformation, Mirage Staff, is also just really OP.
5. Wheel of Fate
Wheel of Fate is the Keyblade you get right after Pirates of the Caribbean, and it’s a SOLID Keyblade. During the late game, I found it hard to pick between this Keyblade and the next one because of how great they both are. Unfortunately, Wheel of Fate gets overshadowed once you get into the post-game. However, the transformation of this Keyblade is my favorite one. Using a staff pole as a weapon I was not expecting.
4. Nano Gear
The final Keyblade Sora gets from the Disney Worlds is Nano Gear, and damn is it pretty cool. The design might not be the greatest, but the Keyblade Transformation, Nano Arms, is quite interesting. It has yo-yos, hammers, claws, swords, and fists. I really like this one because of how it grabs multiple transformations and turns them into one. Also, the damage output is amazing as well.
3. Oathkeeper and Oblivion
Oathkeeper and Oblivion are practically the same Keyblades, so I decided to put them together. The transformations for these two allow Sora to duel wield the Oblivion and Oathkeeper. The combos on this are absolutely insane, and the combo finisher is just incredibly strong. The two only fall short to one Keyblade due to having 2 form changes (takes longer to get to Double Form) and a shorter reach.
2. Ultima Weapon
Ultima Weapon is by far the strongest Keyblade in the game, but it isn’t my favorite one. That is the only reason it isn’t number 1. Ultima Weapon is the most destructive weapon in any Kingdom Hearts game. When Sora transforms into Ultimate Form, it’s over. One combo from this melts a boss’s HP bar. It honestly feels like I am cheating when I use the Ultima Weapon, but it feels so good using it. Everything about it is just perfect.
1. Kingdom Key
If you know me then you know how much I love the Kingdom Key. Not only is the design super great, but the form is also really cool. It literally allows you to play Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 Sora again due to Second Form. Also, if it wasn’t for Keyblade upgrades, then the Kingdom Key wouldn’t be as high. However, I maxed it out and used it throughout my entire playthrough. Kingdom Key just has a special place in my heart. Definitely not biased.
Until Next Time
This list is honestly quite hard because of Keyblade upgrades. You can use any Keyblade you want for the entire game because it can have enough stats for late game. I focused more on the transformations because that is really the only way to distinguish the Kingdom Hearts 3 Keyblades. What do you think of the list? Thanks for reading and stay sexy my friends!
